Numerical and experimental study on the flow characteristics and the erosive ability of magnetorheological jet

Fluid jet machining has been widely used in of hard-brittle materials. However, the diffusion a flow significantly affects erosion capacity. Magnetorheological (MR) fluid considered to take role pure water for carrying abrasive particles, due its better concentration when external magnetic field is applied. The present investigation focuses on characteristics magnetorheological jet, which are involved basic aspects mechanism. 3D numerical models excitation coil and were established investigate pressure distribution target surface trajectories laden particles. Experiments also conducted verify simulation results evaluate feasibility MR finishing. indicated that utilization high intensity can effectively improve processing quality workpiece surface.
